Software license terms and conditions

The following terms and conditions are for single-user, network, and lease licenses of Stata software.

These terms are not binding and are subject to change at any time.

Note: Your code may contain the characters L, 1, o, and 0. L represents the letter L; 1 represents the number one. Similarly, o represents the letter O, and 0 represents the number zero. When you type your code and authorization key into the computer, you may type in lowercase or capital letters; it does not matter. You may also omit or add spaces if you wish.

Notice to user: Please read the following carefully. By taking the positive action of entering the codes on your license into your computer and thus unlocking the software, StataCorp LP will assume that you have agreed to be bound by this agreement. If you do not accept the terms of the license, you must return the package to the Seller from whom you purchased it and your money will be refunded.

License. This software is protected by United States copyright law and international treaty provisions.

The software may not be installed on a network unless the word network appears in the license type.

The license type also designates the number of authorized users. A single-user license allows the software to be used on more than one computer and by more than one person, but no more than one copy of the software may be used at the same time. A home and office computer, for instance, would meet this requirement. A two-user license would allow up to two copies of the software to be used at the same time, and so on.

StataCorp LP authorizes the purchaser to make archival copies of the software for the sole purpose of backing-up the software in order to protect the purchaser's investment from loss.

Limited warranty. The only warranty StataCorp LP makes is that the media on which the software is recorded will be replaced without charge if StataCorp LP determines that the media was defective and not subject to misuse, and if returned to StataCorp LP or the dealer from whom the software was purchased within 30 days of purchase.

StataCorp LP makes no other warranties, either expressed or implied, and StataCorp LP shall not be liable for warranties of fitness of purpose or merchantability, nor for the special, incidental, or consequential damages such as loss of profits or inability to use the software.

The remedy for breach of this warranty shall be limited to replacement of the media and shall not encompass any other damages.

Sole Agreement. This is the only agreement between the purchaser and StataCorp LP and it cannot be modified unless a written amendment has been signed by one of our company officers.
