StataCorp, located in College Station, Texas near the Texas A&M campus, develops and distributes Stata, software for statistical analysis. Stata statistical software has complete statistical, graphical, and data-management capabilities and is used by researchers of all disciplines.

SW-1: Senior Statistical Writer

StataCorp is interested in statistics and statistical communication, as well as statistical software.

StataCorp is seeking a person who understands statistics or econometrics and has an exceptional ability to explain these subjects in written documents.

The successful applicant will contribute to Stata documentation and will work with authors of Stata Press books by editing, writing, and coauthoring Stata documentation, Stata Press books, and other material such as FAQs.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to become known and influential within the Stata user community and will be encouraged to develop a broader knowledge of statistics.

Job duties will include:

• editing and writing documentation, including manuals
• editing, authoring, and coauthoring Stata Press books
• continually broadening and updating knowledge on statistical theory and empirical practice
• communicating with users via articles written in the Stata Journal and via online resources

The ideal candidate will have:

• knowledge of statistics or econometrics
• superb communication skills, including the ability to write and to edit documents in English
• experience in technical writing and editing
• an interest in learning new areas of statistics
• a passion for explaining complex technical topics to a broad audience
• a Ph.D., Masters, or equivalent knowledge and job experience in statistics, economics, or another science-related field
