ED-2: Technical Editor II

StataCorp is seeking a person with a strong understanding of editing technical publications to join its production staff in College Station, Texas.

Job duties include

  • Edit a variety of materials, such as Stata manuals (over 9,000 pages), help files, Stata Press books, Stata Journal articles, course materials, website content, and advertising materials
  • Ability to follow and improve upon existing style guidelines
  • Mentor and oversee other technical editors
  • Answer grammar and punctuation questions from PhDs in assorted fields

The candidate must have

  • Master’s degree in English, Technical Writing/Communication, or a related field with 2 years’ editing experience in technical publications, OR a bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Writing/Communication, or a related field with 5 years’ editing experience in technical publications
  • Excellent command of English grammar and punctuation
  • Ability to read and edit text that includes mathematical formulas
  • Ability to edit a volume of content (500-page textbooks) in a consistent manner
  • Familiarity with statistical terminology
  • Familiarity with mathematical symbols
  • Willing to learn the basics of Stata
  • Willing to relocate to Bryan/College Station area

The preferred candidate will have

  • Knowledge of LaTeX
